Overview

ProfitPulse is operated by JRL Software Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom ("we", "our", "us"). ProfitPulse is a Shopify application that provides real-time profit tracking for merchants. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Data we collect

When you install ProfitPulse, we access the following data from your Shopify store via the Shopify API:

Order data (read_orders)

  • Order totals, line items, and financial details (revenue, taxes, discounts, shipping costs)
  • Refund and cancellation data
  • Payment gateway and processing fee information

Product data (read_products)

  • Product titles, variants, and pricing
  • Product identifiers (IDs, SKUs)

Data you provide

  • Cost of goods sold (COGS) that you enter for your products
  • Custom cost entries (shipping rates, ad spend, etc.)
  • Account information (email address) via authentication

Data we do not collect

We do not access, collect, or store:

  • Customer personal information (names, emails, addresses, phone numbers)
  • Customer payment or credit card details
  • Customer browsing or behavioral data

How we use your data

We use the data listed above solely to:

  • Calculate real-time profit and loss for your store
  • Generate order-level and product-level profit breakdowns
  • Power your P&L dashboard, reports, and daily email digests
  • Process billing through Shopify's billing API

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate ProfitPulse:

  • Shopify - store data access and app billing
  • Clerk - authentication and account management
  • Resend - transactional emails (daily digest notifications)

Each service processes only the minimum data required for its function. We do not share your financial or order data with any of these services beyond what is necessary.

Data storage and security

  • All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
  • Data is stored in a dedicated database isolated from other applications
  • We request only the minimum Shopify API scopes needed to provide our service
  • Access to production systems is restricted and authenticated

Data retention

We retain your store and order data for as long as the app is installed on your Shopify store. When you uninstall ProfitPulse, we delete all associated data within 30 days. You may also request immediate deletion by contacting us.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about your store
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data at any time
  • Uninstall the app at any time from your Shopify admin, which triggers data deletion

GDPR and international data transfers

We process data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), and applicable data protection laws. If your data is transferred outside your region, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through in-app notifications.
